My brother died two years ago his wife had a bench put on the prom where he used to go fishing. Contact the council / Landowner where you would like the bench to be placed. They even suggested that it be made from steel because of vandalism. the metal workers put scrolls either side, one side reads 'Oscar went Fishing' and his DOB and when he died the other. its nice we have a spot we can visit and reflect.

Donate your body for medical research?

That's what my father did, about 18 months back (his body, not the OP's!) He died of cancer and I'm led to believe that he and the few dozen other people that year who also donated their bodies provided an extremely useful teaching tool to medical students. His remains were cremated a few weeks ago.
