It's the first time I've actually appreciated the 'white box' manoeuvre that the council carries out when you report a pothole so they don't have to actually fix it any time soon.

Thinking of going to the gym to ride a Wattbike tonight but I'm reluctant because I don't feel like walking into the gym while wearing cycling gear.

Which is strange when I think how often I walk into Sainsbury's wearing lycra. Once I even wore it at the dentists.

Wattbike: Once you're done playing with the menus it's just as boring as a turbo without the benefit of your own saddle. My legs appreciated it though.

I listened to a podcast about the Peasants' Revolt during the session, I guess I just don't get the gym thing.

Turned out the bike wasn't OK- the rear wheel had a whopping dent in it which I failed to notice, must've been the rear wheel impact with the pothole that threw me off.

Picked up a new rear wheel built by the LBS (Cycleopedia in Watford), now fitted and ready to ride. Going to do a short test ride but I reckon I'll be riding to work again next week. Also started playing bass again, three fingers good but the pinky still a bit tender.

Went out to get some milk on the bike, did eight miles.

Will ride to work tomorrow but I think I'll use the 'cross bike with soft tyres as the ride was a bit jarring in places.
