, but I had a eureka! moment earlier...
For the last three days, in snatched moments between work/kids/other stuff, I've been trying to fettle my front side-pull single-pivot caliper brake on the roadie, one side of which was sticking to the rim (oo'er) ... tried to centre it, took it apart, put it back on, took it apart again, swore at it, laughed at it, etc etc to no avail. Still sticking to the rim.

Then this evening I lubed me cables... and hey presto! all tickety-boo!
Just thought I'd share my little moment of happiness with y'all.

Too much info there ;)

It's my cable lube of choice 3in1. There's probably better but I've always used and it's always worked in thirty plus years of use.

Barnet,
There was a similar thread on a different forum some years back about 3in1, apparently the graphite in the oil eats chains and sprockets, so while it is good for cables and freeing nuts and bolts, beware about lubing chains. I could be wrong of course.

Are you on about the same thing, there's no graphite in normal 3 in 1 is there?

No. It's very sticky and will attract dirt to a chain.

Noooooo! Have you got chainring prints all over your legs? Clean it thoroughly and lube with Finish Line.
