Unless you count MTBs, I've not owned a triple in years. With modern wider range gearing I've never felt the need, though who knows, that may change as so age. I remember the days when having a triple on a road bike, especially with a 6 speed rear end, marked you as a man to be reckoned with.

I was just having a close look at the photo of the bike. It looks to me like when on the smallest chainring the chain would drag across the bottom of the front mech even in the biggest sprocket, unless he had done something to the cage to avoid that?
