In Praise of BBC4

BBC4 is quality. Much of my favourite BBC output is on there: Swedish Wallanders, Engrenages (Spiral) & assorted other Euro cop shows, the music stuff, interesting documentaries, great science & history stuff (Atom, Science and Islam..), some cracking films, and of course the mighty Screenwipe!

Has anyone found their way round the new Desert Island Discs archive site - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/desert-island-discs
I was rather disappointed to find that the earliest shows available are from just 1998 on, hopefully more will be added in due course

I too am loving that Friday night music documentary slot too. The Thin Lizzy one was my fave.


I am currently watching (recorded ages ago) : Grand Prix: The Killer Years.

I had not appreciated how dangerous race driving was even when I were a lad (70's). Back in the 50's and 60's it seemed like a death every few races was the drivers fault and should have driven better.

I heard them say after the Martin Sheen one that all of the shows dating back to 1940-something would be made available, maybe it is being done in stages.
