Sorry about not mentioning Bose in my previous post. They're rubbish & they're expensive. Their noise-cancelling technology does seem to be a bit ahead of the pack but Bose always sounds bland and can always be bettered for less money.

Quick question - did you lay the cans out for the pic or is that how you keep them all the time?

This one, perchance? I bought one and it really is brilliant. Has a fab sound.

People remember what they were doing at big moments in history, like when JFK, John Lennon or JR were shot.
I have a similar moment - the day I walked past a hifi shop in County Mall (Crawley) circa 1996 and heard my first pair of Bose Acoustimass "cubes". No joke, they sounded absolutely stunning and I still dream of owning a pair now.

Trouble is, I was no audiophile then, and even now I only ever listen to MP3s off a USB stick in the TV, or from my phone to a bluetooth speaker.

So more of an audiophobe really, and there are more important things to spend my money on.

PS Can't write "hifi shop" without thinking of Mel Smith.

Might be worth an eBay hunt.

I quite fancied the upgraded stereo in my car but it was £3000. It was also £1000 for satnav and considering you can get a tom tom for £100 that means the stereo is probably £300 worth. I didn't bother.

I spent £3G on my last car's stereo. The twin Alpine 12" subs in the rear had a helluva kick when required. Now I just have the crappy stock stereo in my wee Peugeot and I don't care. It's all in French too.

Yebbut most home 'hifi' systems are cheap little boxes, not quality components.
