I've never liked Teflon, it's nasty stuff and as I now have fried eggs for brekkie every day daily teflon is not a good thing. My current Teflon offering was loosing its slip so I went in search of an alternative. I though about a proper well seasoned cast iron job but then whilst shopping for new bedding in Beales I chanced across these new-fangled (to me anyhow) white ceramic coated jobbies.
Bloody brilliant!
No nasty Teflon, slippier than a slippy thing (and any other non-stick pan I've ever used) and uses bugger-all oil too. Fab :-)

I commend them to the house!

Wait till you've used it for a few months. And I don't abuse my pans. I don't even dishwash them (though it said you could). But no, in my experience ceramic pans are brilliant straight out of the box, but become useless pretty quickly - even quicker than old-skool non-stick. I'm currently looking to get a proper cast iron jobby - apparently they're the ones to go for if you want something that works, doesn't stick, and gets better rather than worse with age.

I concur. However, my experience is that after just a few weeks they deteriorate very, very quickly. Teflon for me. Cheap ones for a few pounds and as soon as they start to stick, they go into the recycling bin and a new one comes out. I'm an expert at finding cheap Teflon pans. Hint - Ikea.

You must use those rubbery plastic utensils for your egg flipping and must be very very careful when cleaning them. Even then and as said above they quickly become less non stick as micro scratched form on the surface.
 
Cast iron. Cast iron, cast iron, cast iron...........cast iron.................Are you detecting a pattern yet?

And the one I had wouldn't burn the outside of a steak anywhere near to a charred style.

Ours went into the bin within a few weeks.....'orrible thing it was.

He says Circulon are rather good...I agree based on the couple I have :smile:
