How are your pans getting on?

Our el-cheapo ones were doing great until very recently - they just needed a quick wipe down after use with a cloth. This all worked fine as washing up and the dishwasher are my jobs. However, recently Mrs Knees told me that she'd put the ceramic pans in the dishwasher. They're rubbish now.
I know you're not asking me but...

My large Tefal frying pan is still going strong after about 16-17 years. The small Tefal pan that gets a lot more use was replaced a couple of years ago, with another Tefal. :okay:

Was going fine, but I also fear washing-abuse started to kill it. It's in Abingdon now and I've not lived there for 2 years. In the meantime I've bitten the bullet and gone for old-fashioned cast iron. Cheap from Nisbetts and take a little more looking after to keep 'em slippy, but I love em. They go in the oven too or under the grill and even on the BBQ which is a bonus.

My Ceramic is still going very well and not sticking at all. No one other than me washes it, so I can be sure that it gets treated right!

I concur. However, my experience is that after just a few weeks they deteriorate very, very quickly. Teflon for me. Cheap ones for a few pounds and as soon as they start to stick, they go into the recycling bin and a new one comes out. I'm an expert at finding cheap Teflon pans. Hint - Ikea.
Have to agree.
Yes it is slippier then and stupid bl**dy slippery thing...............fine if you enjoy chasing food around the pan or vainly hoping the egg will stay still while you spoon fat over it.
And it wasn't very long before is discoloured badly.
I will stick (note the pun) to Teflon.

Ours discoloured when they were used for aubergines, but remained slippery until "the dishwasher incident"

Now they seem to be actively sticky.
