In praise of cloth caps

I'm a dedicated cloth cap wearer. An old worn in job for dog walk duties, a blue cord one(disturbingly like Zak Dingles) for daily wear, and a more expensive tweed one for posh use such as going to the Opera or Burger King.

Youngsters take the pith, old folk nod sagely at my style and common sense, so that's good.

Anyone else an ardent follower of the fashionable yet practical cloth cap?

Very similar for me. A waxed cotton fishing hat for keeping the rain of my eyes when I walk the dog or myself and a herringbone peak cap for formal wear. I recently found an almost-new Harris tweed newsboy cap who was probably purchased by a passing tourist and never claimed it. I have not worn that one yet, I still haven't found someone to embarrass.

Either a Jacaru leather hat or more likely a Brazilian tarp hat for me. The tarp one being excellent for its intended purpose recently - stooping the sun burning my bonce!

As an "old git"..........I wore a red & black cord flat cap when I was 18........mostly when going to the footy matches.
I wear a waterproof hat for golf or walking.....when its raining.
Apart from that-no.

When it's raining think of a wide brimmed waterproof hat as carrying around your own teeny umbrella. Keeps your head dry and drips fall onto your shoulders. Will help protect you from the fearsome sun in the UK. Ahem.
A hood doesn't give you the same freedom of movement of your head, but will keep your ears warmer and won't blow off if it's windy. Unless you have an ushanka (Russian hat)
All depends on the weather really.

Fox fur. It allows me to torment my long-suffering wife with cries of "Where's the fox hat" when the first snows hit. I never tire of it.
