I don't mind a cloth cap, but I prefer a trilby... They have rain gullies.

The main reason I don't wear a cloth cap is because I'm not a Northerner!
North Hampstead maybe?

I have three tweed caps, one of them very wide, 1930's style, but usually wear an Australian Akubra felt hat.
I rarely go out without a hat, winter or summer.
Because the Akubra blows off, I wear a cycling cap for riding.

I remember working in a back garden with the gang a few years ago circa 94..
i was moving a large water butt and noticed the inside had a good covering of moss..
i removed a 6'' x 6'' piece and made a very nice syrup..i think the moss green went well with my eyes
i decided that baldness was the way forward that day as people laughed at me ...;)

Fred dibnahs tale about getting a nasty scalp infection from a cloth cap stops me wearing one. Generally wear a Tilley in the sun or a bandana type thingy on the boat to stop me baldy head burning
