New Caledonia- My father was there, in the war. No reports on crows, though, although he was a birder.

Crows are clever: they make themselves look like jackdaws and rooks so they never get nailed in the identity parade.

I was impressed by seeing one skimming a pond and fishing out on the wing some bread thrown out for the ducks a couple of months ago. I'd never seen one do that before.

Though, thinking about it, it might have been a jackdaw....

Most of those presents are rubbish. If they're so smart, surely you could train them to steal jewellery and car keys 'n stuff.
