I got rather lucky this morning at a campsite around Shrewsbury when I felt what I presumed to be a leaf (I was standing near to a tree) land in my hair. I went fishing with my bare hands to pull it out. I then looked at what I was holding, to find I was holding a wasp by its legs (it was upright) 
. Needless to say I let go very promptly.
How I was not stung either on my head or my fingers is beyond me, but I am thanking my lucky stars because I have only ever been stung once before, so have no idea if I am allergic to stings! (It is possible because I reacted badly to being bitten by an adder some 10 years ago and apparently if you react badly to stings you are very likely to react badly to snake bites!).
