I've got a small rucksack from Decathlon for the occasions where my pockets start to overflow/ I plan on buying something

I also have a smallish rucksack from the same place which I usually carry over one shoulder, man bag style, when it's empty. The main disadvantage to this is that whenever I buy an avocado it hides itself in the murky depths at the bottom. This might be the same with man bags because avocados are naturally very shy creatures.

With the advent of mobile payments it’s now possible for a man to leave home with just house keys and a phone. I do it all the time.

Female, and I hate carrying stuff and don’t even possess a handbag. I was needing a couple of things from the Co-op earlier and didn’t even lock the door. Paid for what I needed with my watch so nothing to carry on the way there.

Man bags add a "continental" allure to any gentleman wearing a shirt. We should all be more open minded and accepting of people's lifestyle choices.

I hate pockets stuffed to overflowing, or with heavy stuff clumping around in them, but not quite as much as I hate carrying bags. I sometimes wear coats I don't need just for the pockets. I'll go round town browsing without buying, then go round again to buy everything rather than have my hands cluttered with bags whilst I'm browsing. If I have to walk around with a bag, it'll be a rucksack.

I did have a really handy man bag when I was on crutches. I had one leg completely out of action and found I absolutely needed the bag - I can't remember exactly why but I did.

When I got my leg back the need evaporated and my wife stole the bag.

Man bags can be very useful but do not forget Rohan and Craghopper shirts which have two decent-sized breast pockets plus a large second-layer breast pocket which can take wallet, passport, boarding cards, mobile phone and baggage tickets — an absolute boon for getting through airport controls. In winter, wear a zip cardigan or you will find your passport trapped under a jumper. Another great strategy is to wear a VOMP — a Vest Of Many Pockets — which is a convenient garment so long as the staff do not insist on you removing it to go through the scanner. Those breast pockets, by the way, are essential for glasses on one side and notebook and pen on the other. After proper pocket planning, man bags take you to the next level, including water and sandwiches.
