Dave Barker of Dave and Ansell Collins, was such a lovely bloke. He used to come into the Trojan office every Christmas with a 4 pack of Special Brew for me. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I hated the stuff. So used to give it to someone else in the company.

With the exception of @ianrauk who is allowed in the thread for his ska ancdotes, if you aren't here to praise it, you can do one :boxing:

Ska gave rise to UB40.
Need I say more ?:ninja:

I saw Madness and Selector on a 6 band bill at the Lyceum , August 79, March of the Mods tour,
The Two Tone label was just starting, Tribute to the Prince had just been released and on my Radio wasn't out yet.
A few weeks later I picked up Tears of a clown by the Beat, just because it was on Two Tone.
Going to see the Beat on Saturday, with the mate I went gigging with back in the day....

My goodness that lot takes me back to the 2tone days, some really quality tunes posted too, I can remember being stood at traffic lights regularly on Chapeltown Road, Leeds, some of the shops had speakers outside belting Ska & Reggae out so loud the beat shook my van!

As childish teenagers we thought this bloke was hilarious, it's NSFW though, my mate got his album from the record library

I used to frequent a club called Cloud Nine on Cross Street in Manchester in the eighties on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed with mods, skins, suede heads and rockerbillys. Lots of hitch hiking on the floor was had to Jamaican Ska and Two Tone.

There was a great programme about the skinhead movement by don letts on 6 music recently. Some fantastic stuff on there.

Also saw madness for the first time this year, almost shed a tear when the foghorn sounded at the start of Nightboat to Cairo - took me right back to my boyhood.

Lucky enough to catch toots and the maytels this summer. Brilliant stuff.
