*being pedantic, Maggie voted against the "milk snatch". But of course the Thatcher haters would never let the truth get in the way of a pathetic reason to hate her.

Not so, she watered down the milk snatch, but was responsible for it. I don't actually hate Thatcher as a person since I don't believe she was inherently evil or that she intended that her governments should be divisive and destructive. Sadly, her ambition was stronger than her principles as this incident demonstrates.

Barnet,
I was born in 1957 so i was thirteen at the start of the 70's and I had a great time. The music changed so much between 70-79 and so did I. I went to my first gig in '73 at the rainbow in Finsbury park to see Slade. As said before, the girls were more feminine and friendly!!. I started work in '74 and got my first motorbike in 1976. If I had to choose my best year it would be 1977, I sort of knew what i was doing and where I was going by then. Ahh the memories, the girls, the bikes. This was also the year I left home, and the party continued.

Feather style haircuts (couldnt have one as i had curly hair)
Platform shoes

Monkey Bikes (my dad promised me one,it never happened)
Punk rock
National Front/anti Nazi league

and the best thing about the 70's for me was the super Mopeds, FS1E's,Malagutti's,Garelli's,etc etc

I wore the same brown jumper through most of the seventies. I think owned a pair of Clark's Commandos which were protected by the twin skirts of my massively flared jeans.

I was born in '56 so was a child of the 60's but a Youth of the 70's. I was a college (not Uni it was a Poly) 75-79. Summer jobs cleared my overdrafts. No tuition fees and getting a grant with support from parents meant that life was easy after college. No dept to repay.
1st gig was "Argent" in 1973, at Doncaster, Top Rank. That tour was released in 74 as Encore: Live in Concert.
Great times. Being 14 in 1970 it was the decade that I discovered girls and drink (not neccessarily in that order).
Got first proper bike (Puch Prima 12 :becool: ), for my 21st, for commuting to college up in Sunderland then in Cardiff.
First long ride was from Kings Lynn back to parents house in Doncaster when mate from Sunderland and me ran out of money on bike tour of East coast.
