In praise of womens volleyball

Stuck in the hotel in back of nowhere China, TV is crap......but I chanced on the Montreux Womens Volleyball tournament.

Now this is a sport! Well, sort of...I doubt I could tell you where the ball is at any particular point in time. Currently on court are the statuesque amazons representing Germany and USA. Here's the lovely Mareen Apitz of Germany to give you a taster (as it were)

I get it .....but there's something about the shorts & kneepads....and that they're all about 27 feet tall

The first thing I noticed was her ability to hover just above the floor, awesome.

I'm not interested in either volleyball or handball, which are very popular sports in Scandinavia (due to them being played indoors, no doubt), but on occasion, I have watched the ladies playing on TV and much prefer their style of play with deft touches and more artistic play, as opposed to the brute force of the men's game.
