India v England 5th Test

England win the toss again and bat. Both openers gone after 12 overs (Jennings just a flash in the pan!)

Consolidation with Root and Ali adding 140 odd, Root falling for 88. Ali and Bairstow add 86, and are currently 275-4 with an unbeaten century from Ali.

They have to bat well into tomorrow and post a challenging score.

I like Ali. I'm not sure whether he is a batsman who bowls well or a bowler who bats very well.

What do we think?

So, stumps on day one. England 284-4, Ali 120* and Stokes 5*.

Three wickets down to bad shots and Root possibly unlucky to be given lbw.

Assuming Ali and Stokes can bat the first hour tomorrow, there's no reason that England should got to 400-450, again assuming that Buttler, Dawson get a score and the tail can chip in.

Honours even, I feel.

Hmmm...I do wonder what sort of score England needs to post to give an advantage of, say, 100 runs going into the 3rd innings (which I would consider a minimum if we are to with the test)

I don't think England can bowl India out for less than 400 and I can't see England scoring 500 so I'm not too optimistic

How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Oh me of little faith.
477 all out.
Sounds good on paper but if India rack up 650 again it could tricky.
Odds on a draw though on a slow pitch.
