My son and I will be arriving in Glasgow on May 9 and hiring bikes at GearBikes in the west end and then cycling north to Inverness on the NCN7. Can anyone recommend inexpensive lodging near Gear Bikes (19 Gibson Street) or at least in that part of the city? Thank You

Can’t help specifically but it’s close to the university so you could try that as a point for a booking engine eg

Or tripadvisor

Rates will of course vary depending on dates

Can't help with the accommodation, but if you're looking for a decent pint in a nice pub then Stravaigin across the road from Gearbikes would be a good place to start.

There is no YHA outside England. In Scotland look for SYHA. Nit picking I know but I used to be on the management committee in the good old days.

Ideal location as well for getting round the city on a bike.
The path along the Kelvin takes you down to the Clyde in one direction or on to the canal going the other way.
Very much home ground for me .

I can confirm that the SYHA in Park Terrace is great; it is cheaper to join than pay the non- members daily fee.

The crew a Gear Bikes are really helpful, but be prepared for some banter.

For a substantial breakfast try TriBeCa nearby.
