Inner tube shelf life?

Halfords 5 tubes for a tenner, but how long will they last if I don't use them, if that makes sense, please?

Years I'd think, just keep them in the shrink wrap and out of sunlight. £9 for 5 if a BC member

I'm running slimes at the moment so they would be only be spares, but at that price , bin if they puncture, but never sure if it is false economy

Why bother if you don't need them, this isn't a one off, they run the deal several times of the year

Oh and they're only £3 a piece normally so it's hardly the sale of the century

Why would you keep it out of sunlight? Butyl is perfectly UV resistant. Even the "keep it in the shrink wrap" advice is dubious. Butyl is known to crack (perish) when stressed, like when it is folded. It usually cracks on the folds. Keep it anywhere you like and preferably inflated or slightly inflated, I'd think.
