insurance conmen refuse to pay out

It does bug me when people I know will 'claim' a new TV or camera for Christmas, on their household insurance, just because they can and not because anything has happened to the old ones. That sort of fraudulant claim just pushes the insurance bill up for everyone.

Someone i know once poured a can of paint over a worn out sofa and claimed for a new one. If he ever does the same again, he may get a surprise!

That's worth knowing.

I remember someone at work, many years ago, who was going to claim for a video camera, not that there was even an original camera to replace! I suggested that I would report it as fraud but never heard if the 'claim' was actually made.
I'm not good at making friends at work sometimes.
