I would recommend " The rest is History " podcast. Really in depth analysis of a wide range of topics. It's in the form of a chat between two highly qualified presenters Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland. Over 600 episodes so far, last week I listened to a fascinating discussion of the fall of the Shah and the rise of the Ayatollah, with all the political shenanigans going on in the background. The fall of Saigon was an eye opener too.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
That memory haunts me. It described the poverty of my early life.

I don't remember lights being a thing. Before my time.

I do remember tripe and onions. Bland but not bad. I wouldn't seek it out now. Pigs feet, too many fiddly bones but normally part of a stew with a hock and peas. I liked that. Braised Lambs hearts were a favourite of mine. My mum used to give them to us when we were ill. We weren't eating like that out of poverty. It was just what people ate.

Even liver and kidney are on a downward trend now. My wife does all the meat shopping and has to go on a special mission to get kidneys for S&K pie.

I think it's sad that these things are disappearing because it's wasteful and it's purely driven by squeamishness about the names of things. Mind you, it probably all turns up in sausages and burgers and the like and people aren't any the wiser.
