Of course, according to some I should bottle up everything I deal with on a day to day basis and never talk to anyone about it. No wonder so many of my colleagues (me included) have had mental breakdowns!

.... And you have arrested someone

Where is all the drama, the flirting with the pretty WPC / Pathologist, the angst ridden decisions and brilliant thinking that leads to that breakthrough moment when the efforts, dedication and experience of the gallant and dedicated officer leads to the arrest

I have seen how it should be done., simply going out and arresting people doesn't really cut it

If it helps I was flirting with the Speacial (female) Constable I was on Scene Preservation with!

Good to know that they're are some decent coppers out there. I wouldn't want to deal with the dead bodies for all the tea in china.

Sadly most of us only ever have minimal contact with the police and when we do its not a positive experience!!!

WpC plod and garage kerb doesn't help with your image!!!!

That is like a driver seeing a cyclist jumping a red light and then saying "I hate cyclists, all you cahnts jump red lights and cause accidents". WPC is no reflection on other police. She is an individual, that is all.

To be honest, I don't get this abuse of cops for eating and drinking. Their job is a little more physical than most, and that makes you hungry. We all eat and drink at work, why shouldn't the PoPo? FFS.

You get even hungrier after a thirty mile bike ride in to work too! To be fair, it's very rare I've actually encountered the classic "Don't you have better things to do, I pay your wages" when out in public buying food (I'm very unorganised and never make food up at home to bring with me). If I did, and they caught me at the wrong time when I was absolutely starving, after not getting a chance to stop throughout the shift up until that moment, I'd probably snap back at them with the classic "Here's 50p, consider it a refund."!

We positively encourage officers to visit local businesses to have a cuppa, buy a sandwich etc. The officers are doing nothing wrong, they are entitled to eat, and it helps to remind people that we are human after all. The local businesses absolutely love it. I have only ever once taken a phone call from "Outraged of Outlane" who wanted to know why there were two officers parked at the end of his road drinking coffee from Merry England cups. I had recognised his voice and remembered he was the one who had recently tried to steamroller a public meeting about priorities with complaints that he never saw a copper. I'm afraid he was treated to several minutes of professional sarcasm, starting with my thoughts about the merits of Merry England coffee. ^_^

A few of us were getting some breakfast at the hospital canteen (I know but we were starving!)
A lady in her 50's or 60's was sat a few tables away and as soon as she saw us, she shouted " I'm not sitting in the same place as you lot " and stormed out much to everyone else's amusement.

I've had a few comments from people whilst I've been getting coffee or food, after ten years you learn to ignore it. Most people are happy to see us there.
