Not so. On the £29 per month Orange offers twice as much as O2 (other tarrifs are the same)

so i am left trying to choose suppliers based only upon air time coverage, service and perks...hence the thread i guess

might not be true, just what I was told.
Ahh thats makes sense, Tesco will probably work out a way to create a better deal though.
