iphone 5 wont charge or come on?

Any ideas...tried a few google answers like remove dust from inside charging point, tried different leads, held both buttons for 20 secs but still nothing?

Was it out of charge when it switched off?
If so your charging port is likely dead; a common problem with iphones. Approx £30 to replace.

Lets go back to basics
I assume you have a plug with USB socket, a cable and the phone

Can you charge other USB items from the socket?

If yes, borrow a cable and try a cable that you know works

If that doesn't work then it is the phone

Yes.....I have also tried the lead that come with my eldest iphone 6 which charges his but nothing when plugged into mine

Take the sim card out then try again .

Just to update, took it to a mobile phone repair shop and he kindly checked the port....ok, checked the battery but he also tried 2 brand new batteries and it came on but the charge from the new battery dramatically looses.....he 4hinks it may be a problem with the board which he cannot repair
