... should have told him that my grandparents are from County Wicklow , my dad was born there but raised in Norwhich , mum is welsh and I,m a bit of everything lol . Smallminded barman but have to say had a warm welcome elsewhere.

Counts for nowt I'm afraid, Moon bunny has been explaining to me how she could happily go almost anywhere in Ireland alone but if she had me in tow in certain places it wouldn't just be me catching the trouble but also her for associating with an obvious Englishman. Mme. Hover Fly as a Frenchie would be a different story again.

I have been to Dublin once, and the reception my favourite Oliver Cromwell T-shirt got put me right off.
Bit touchy aren't they!

Under English law the South used to be with the North, in Great Britain.
Eater 2016 sees the centenary of the proclomation & the start of the Irish Republic. 1921 Civil war.
The South still lay claim to the North. One third of which is in the South, anyway. The North doesn't lay claim to this part of the North. Only the South does.
You forgot P.I.R.A. & Official IRA, IRB , IVF, UVF, INLA, UFF

IVF ?

I did try and explain this to Her Nibs when we went to Belfast and Dublin. She was interested until I got to the complicated stuff about Dublin being in a different country. Which was about five seconds in. And then she said 'spare me this s***, none of it is increasing my earning power, where are the shops?' And that, really, is all you need to know. Where are the shops?
When we went to Ireland we'd planned to go up tp Belfast for a couple of days, but the car hire company wanted to charge us extra to drive to a foreign country, so we didn't bother. We were staying on the shore ofCarlingford Lough and could wave at the Britishers on the other side.

Apparently councillors in County Kerry now want to allow drink driving. It's because most people just drive tractors on quiet roads and the council don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to have a few drinks.

I love Ireland. I'd come back and live there again if it wasn't so damn wet.

(It operates quite like Spain in a lot of ways, but I can understand a bit of what people are saying.)

I cycled Mizzen Head to Malin Head, the Irish end to end, a few years ago. The northern most part of Ireland is Malin Head which is in County Donegal, Eire, rather than Northern Ireland. I was slightly nervous about cycling through Northern Ireland, but County Donegal, apart from being the most northern county, is also the thinnest and the traffic is pretty intense. I decided I was safer cycling thought Northern Ireland. I stopped at one small market town and was disturbed to see a monument to fallen IRA members from 1922. The next market town I came to had red, white and blue painted kerbsides.

My experience in Belfast. A comms line to the airport was down. So I drove to Liverpool and flew to Belfast City airport. I was met by the local engineering company and driven to Belfast International. I looked at the equipment and thought "that plug does not look as though its completely in". Pushed it, much flashing of lights followed. The other end was in Canada, so had to wait until 2pm, when they arrived in work. "yes its up now, thanks". Back to Belfast city. Wait until 6pm for return flight.

Apart from that, breakfast is served 7-9, dinner is 5-6 and it started raining 2000 yrs ago and never really stopped.
