IMO cycle cameras are never very good at showing close passes, I'm sure the van was right next to you, but the footage doesnt give that impression.

It was quite close - closer than I would have liked, but I've certainly had worse. I probably wouldn't have bothered, except for the irony of the strapline.

The wide angle exaggerates distance and makes it look further than what it is. At any rate, he's in breach of a "must not" rule for double white lines. How many points is that?

at that speed theres every chance you would get dragged into his slip steam ?
could end up being pulled in front of any following traffic.

I had a couple of trucks go pretty close past me the other day I definitely felt the slipstream as they went past, boosted me up a few mph and I felt the pull towards the centre of the road, nothing too bad but it show's there is a noticeable effect.

Also wide angle lenses do make everything look further away I have tried using correction effects in Première to adjust for it it does work but distorts a little as well.
