I had the same tape on a bike for 13 years and around 20,000 miles.

if it's a bike with the cables routing under the tape then it's probably best that the tape gets a change as the cables should almost certainly have been changed within seven years,

old school levers with the cable coming out of the top though, seven's good, but beatable…
