On Friday I bought a lot of chocolate bars to take to work, TVC jokingly said 'we really need to sort out your chocolate habit' the lady serving us smiled and told us that chocolate makes her drowsy.

Dark chocolate is the stuff to avoid. Less than 1oz (28g give or take) is enough to kill a 44lb dog. White chocolate and milk chocolate have much lower levels of theobromine.
This should be publicised more! Giving chocolate to dogs is frowned upon, because all chocolate is bad for them,so they say. When in reality, not all chocolate IS bad for dogs.

And don't feed him raisins or onion either, whilst we're listing things dogs can't eat. Or sweetcorn.
Or whole grapes for that matter. People forget grapes.
A small box of raisins, like the ones people pop into a packed lunch, will kill a Labrador sized dog in 48 - 72 hours. Awful things, I never have them in the house, just in case my dog - who can open cupboards if he feels like it - decides to give them a nibble.

He had some chocolate raisins the other night!
Only about 4 though.
Amazing he's still kicking really.

Do you have any other diabetes symptoms, excessive thirst, peeing a lot, unexplained weight loss, fatigue
Apropos nothing, so highly appropriate to this thread, I asked my doctor about the fasting thing. Water only, he said, but after further interrogation, he confided that black coffee (no sugar or milk) didn't affect blood test readings. Luckily, straight is how I drink my coffee. Funny how they don't like to tell you things....

I guess it's because it has no calorific content, black tea would presumably be the same. I've got to have one in a couple of weeks as I'm taking oral corticosteroids, which can cause diabetes
