If only someone like you saw fit to clean up Cambridge: the bike racks are peppered with abandoned wrecks that clog up space for decent bikes.
You can only be done for theft if there is an intention to permanently deprive the owner of his property. You have clearly stated your intent to return the bikes if asked, you intend to place stickers to that effect where they were left, so a court would not convict you of theft.
petty cool thing they do in china, the have "public bikes" they are bikes that people ride to where they want, then they leave it for someone else to use. no one owns them, people just pick them up and use them as needed
