We're going to stay the night in our friends house. Good few drinks and let the kids all play and stay up together.
It's a good excuse to get together with friends or family and have a laugh.
If most of your time is taken up with the daily grind of work, it's great to have a reason to relax and have a bit of fun.
Exactly, enjoy it.

Mrs WTT and I are always in bed by 10 on New Year's Eve. We get woken up by the fireworks at midnight, grumble about them, and go back to sleep.

However, it means we start the New Year feeling fresh, and generally go for a nice early walk.

Good meal of stovies at tea-time to give the stomach a lining together with a bottle of wine or two. A few pre-drink drinkies before hitting the pub about 9. Drinky drinky drinky, see in the bells, wee bit of blow as a perk-me-up before hitting the streets and snogging every willing WPC in sight. Then off to a party with the wife, who's got a good few lines of Charlie sorted out together with the bevvy for first footing. Steak pie is in the oven with the timer set to have it ready for tomorrow at 3 for the family coming round. Good lining for the stomach ready for the clubbing tomorrow night followed by the New Year's party at the neighbours. Finish up with some more blow to freshen me up for work on Tuesday.

There's six of us tonight, two of whom I don't know. The other pair (late 50s/early 60s) like a drink far too much, and to a lesser extent, my misses, too.

Last night I hardly slept at all due to an impromptu visit from her oldest grandchild (almost two). Her parents suddenly had to attend to something and the toddler was disruptive all night and early morning.

We're staying at this couples place (50 miles away), when I said yes to coming along, I thought it was at their home, about two miles away).

Early on Monday morning I'm off to the airport, so won't get much sleep Sunday night and I haven't packed properly yet.

I won't be enjoying myself tonight. And I expect to be asleep (sober) well before midnight.

Fakkin' traditions.
