Perfectly normal. I count the hours.

yes it is
I count days to days off and count hours to shift end. Sad reflection to the NHS. loved my job till 5 yrs ago, red tape and staffing levels being the killer. happy with the pay but don't get me started on teachers

It may be commonplace, but if it's excessive you should attempt to get work elsewhere. One of the top five comments nurses and clinicians involved in end of life care hear is 'I wish I hadn't worked so hard and missed so much of life.' Belief systems aside, the evidence suggests we're only here once - if you can, do a job where you minimise these thoughts.

No, I do enjoy my job it's just that I'm really keen to get back out after being able to do it so much while I was off. I'm getting an online clothes order together so that I can start cycling in to work as its only 3 miles away

Just started back at work yesterday after a week's holiday and all I've done is count the days til the weekend when I can get back out on my bike. Does anyone else suffer from this or am I abnormal?
Yes, you're abnormal... according to the non-cycling public anyway . I arrive at work, then count the hours until my commute home . My commutes are 1 hour to work and 90 minutes to home, and I enjoy every minute (except for the occasional commute with incidents like yesterday's).

Completely normal...but you are asking this on a cycling forum ;)

I am dreading being told by whatever medic I see about my sore leg to stop cycling  (especially as a I have a new bike)!

Get a good lock as well even if you can park the bike indoors.
