Is it odd to have a Hybrid and a Road Bike

I don't particularly feel the need to justify why I own several bikes but I have said to people who query my collection that they wouldn't think anything off it if I had a sports car worth £10k in the garage.
What? No sports car in the garage?

Hey Skolly, what is the all road bike?....

In fact, name them all. Your stable sounds like mine (see sig line) except I have two hardtails although the Forme is now the workhorse for nipping into town and locking up. The others don't leave my sight.
The all road bike (or Enduroad in GT speak) is the GT Grade carbon. I am almost happy with it now set-up wise and the more I ride it the more it becomes part of me.

The sun is shining today so just for fun I got out the bikes and the camera.....

These are my main 4 bikes, left to right;
  • GT Grade carbon 105 (2016).
  • GT GTR series 3 (2011), reframed under warranty with 2014 series 1 frame/forks.
  • GT Zaskar LE (1994)
  • GT Traffic 1.0 (2010)
I bought all these bikes new, although the GTR series 3 had the frame replaced under warranty in 2015. It originally looked like this, which IMO is much nicer on a sunny day, really felt like riding on sunshine :becool:

My other bikes are the popcorn of my fleet.

Again, left to right,
  • BMX from the scrap man, waiting for brake cables so me and kids can have a play at being cool yoof!
  • Kona Cindercone (1995), bought new by my kid brother and recently rescued from the back of my dad's shed where it has languished in bits for far too long. New bits arrive tomorrow to allow the resurrection.
  • Raleigh Vitesse (1991). In my eyes a steel classic. Lugged Reynolds 531 and in original condition, almost as good as new. Bought off ebay for a pittance
Other GT bikes in the household.

Stomper 20, again bought new but now waiting for a new home as the youngest lad is 11 today.
GT Avalanche in white belongs to my wife so rarely gets used but the black one is my oldest son's and is a higher spec so probably at least as capable as my 23yr old Zaskar.

Finally, my youngest son has 3 bikes!

His road bike is one of the last of the red Triban 3s, bought new for £200 as end of line clearance (these actually went down to £150 right at the end!). He also has a bitsa MTB and the hybrid with mudguards is good for the school run and was donated by @potsy of this forum.

Interestingly two of the bikes above have been stolen, and then recovered by me weeks later. The Kona was stolen from my brother right at the end of the 90's but I happened to spot some tattooed thug riding it near my house a month or two later so confronted him and successfully regained ownership! The bitsa bike was stolen from my oldest son while locked up at his school. I recovered that in a similar fashion after stopping two lads and a girl riding through a nearby town. Unfortunately the bike had already been pillaged and the good shimano LX wheels with XT centre lock rotors had been swapped for some junk wheels and the deore M615 brakes were replaced with nasty Tektro cable carp! :cursing:

Just counted up. That's 13 bikes between 4 people (12 if you don't count the mini MTB waiting to be rehomed)

Six of them are mine, but in reality the black/blue GT roadbike will be used by my oldest son this summer if I can persuade him to ride with me.

Is it odd to have a hybrid and a road bike?
Is it odd to only have a hybrid and a road bike?
