Is it possible to change the cage on Ultra 6800 rear mech?

Mrs O has a 11-32 cassette and long cage on her rear mech, but finds the cassette a bit gappy and being in Suffolk there isn't really the need for a 32 tooth rear cassette.

I was planning on changing it to a 11-26, but the long cage rear beach would look a bit silly. Ideally, I'd like to change the cage to a short one, rather than buy a new rear mech.

Does anyone know of this is possible and if it will actually work?

I would keep the long cage, it's not going to look any different which ever casette you use.

Did the same thing on my Deore equipped hybrid and went from 11-32 to 11-26. Works a treat with the long cage mech and is not visually disturbing either.

Try St Johns St Cycles - they do loads of parts for Shimano

Either that or swap it for a 105 short cage mech, basically the same but cheaper and a couple of grams heavier.
