I attempted LEJOG this year and made it to 82% (based on miles cycled versus how many I was supposed to do) before having to quit due to poor health - got a cold just before the Lake District that turned into something nastier around Loch Lomond.

Many people since have asked me if I would go back and do it again and my initial answer has been no, but in the back of my mind I haven’t ruled it out completely. However I can’t see trying the whole thing again until after I’m retired (at least 10-15 years for that) because getting that much time off work is a hassle.

Now would I do just the Scottish section that I did not complete so I could say I’d done the whole country, even if not in one go? Yes, that is much more tempting. It won’t be next year, but maybe in the next 3-4.

if I did 20/25 miles a day I might be alright over 40 days 😂

Nowt wrong with doing it over 40 days if that is what works.

LEJOG only defines start and end points. The route in between can be as different to others as you wish. A friend did an off road version just under 20 years ago. Eight hundred and odd miles.

Forunately navigation has gotten a lot easier since then.
