I wondered if the collective of tech savvy folks of this parish may have any ideas...

We've got a 10 year old LG LCD TV which is hooked up to a digital aerial, a Sky HD box (yes, yes I know), and a DVD player.

We have some scaffolding up at the moment, but until today, reception on all has been fine - no one has done any work outside for 2 days.

Now we have ghosting and 'blocky' pictures, which look like huge, rubbish pixels. At first I assumed either the dish had been knocked, or it was atmospherics. Did the usual - unplug etc. No improvement.

Switched to the digital aerial - ah, same problem (and the aerial is way above the scaffolding).

Finally tried to play a DVD. Bugger. The same poor picture quality...

It may sound like a dim question, but I'm now thinking the TV is knackered.

I've tried retuning etc, same problem.

Is my TV toast do you reckon? Any ideas before I reach for my wallet?

Ta all...

Nothing wrong with the telly, it's the scaffolding that stealing the signal from your dish, Bain of my life for a while.

The 'same with a DVD' does sound pretty ominous. As for ideas, could you take it to a mate's house and substitute it for their telly and see how it goes?

Good idea... Got an old portable in the loft (gawd knows why), I'll dig it out and see if the digital aerial works with that...

Problem is it's the same issue with the digital aerial which is way above the scaffolding, the DVD player playback and with recorded programmes from weeks/months ago on the Sky hard drive - it's not just the Sky signal unfortunately...
