It's just a good way for me to record distance and stuff , I'm in no way fast though I use it al, the time , my mate rides with an earpiece and I think he said it announces segments ( en ride ) to you , although he is a segment chaser and tbh I'm not gona challenge for a kom lol

What do you actually get over the free version
I wouldn't say so. It does some nice heart rate zone stuff, I had the Premium version for a year but then dropped back to the free version and my life doesn't feel any worse!

They get you to sign up for the free trial and then if you forget to cancel after the first month they sting you for the whole year, my wife got caught by it a few months ago.

Probably not unless you are really in to your stats *and* have the kit to record lots of data.
I paid in to MapMyRide a year or so ago (personal philosophy, if I'm finding someones work useful I like to pay them for it if I don't think they are taking the piss on the fees) and haven't really gained much out of it. I think I can log my heart rate stuff when I couldn't before (but I didn't have an HRM before so it really didn't matter). I could log power meter and cadence if I had anything that recorded them, but I don't. I think it gives me some extra routing capabilities, but I don't use it in that way anyway. So basically, not really _worth_ it. I believe Strava does similar. There will be a list of the extras somewhere on Strava. If you are just logging the basics, then the free version will do all of that for you anyway, plus I have a vague recollection that Strava costs are in the 'taking the piss' range. What it doesn't do, is stop it advertising at you, particularly annoyingly with MMR to buy premium MMR.

Shouldn't the question be "Is Strava worth it?"

I've never got the whole Strava thing. Who cares how fast you road a particular piece of road?

I was like that for a long time, but it does have some benefits. There's a couple of 20ish mile 'segments' near home, so if I'm limited for cycling time I'll opt for one of the 20 mile routes & push hard all the way round trying to improve on my previous best, probably not as good as cycling 40 or 50 miles, but if I have a time to aim for i do tend to push harder & there's a segment nearly 3 miles long which ends near home where i would normally take it easy heading back, but if there's a tail wind I now have an incentive to push hard & get a good work out there too :okay:

Basic user here, can't see enough in the Premium to justify the cost.

Regarding Strava per se of course it doesn't suit everyone. But this is why I like it:

1) Good for recording rides
2) Social aspect; following cyclists I know, they follow me. We see each others rides and have a bit of a chat about them
3) One of the reasons I cycle is as a form of exercise to keep fit. Strava helps motivate me to keep pushing myself
