@rich9573 - new wheels will depend on your budget. Given my son races, and is sponsored, I've a few suggestions below:

Aluminium, £250-ish: Superstar Components do nice wheels, very good for the price. We've used them for London-Edinburgh-London through to a national crit race. Sign up for their newsletter and buy when it's on discount ;) - my LEL wheelset was just £80 new. https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/

Carbon, £400+ to ++++:

£400-500 buys you Novatec carbon wheels. They used to have negative press but have improved their hubs in recent years. We currently use a couple of their wheelsets for training. Bought via eBay / Chinese wheel importers.
£500 + a bit gets you Prime from Wiggle/Chain Reaction - we bought a 38mm BlackEdition set this winter. Decent carbon wheels from an online retailer: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/prime/wheels
£700-1000 gets you Zed wheels - we bought a 50mm set of these over the winter as well. Hand-built and lightweight. Nice guy, makes the lightest wheels in the world (see the £+++++ above) https://zedbikewheels.com/
£700-1200 buys you NR6 wheels. These are one of my son's sponsors and are used by his team - JRC Shutt Ridley RT. Mention (Tim Lane, JRC Shutt Ridley and you might get a discount ;) ) https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063709052076 / https://nr6cycles.co.uk/

There are lots of other options, but these are the ones we've found to work for us at a sensible price/performance point.

I've had 2 sets of Campagnolo Zonda's on an Alloy Defy rim brake and then a Carbon Disc brake and they are lovely wheels in my opinion, quiet freehub and spin forever. Gp 5000's as well.

Get some nice DT Swiss wheels. The perfect balance btween reduced rotating mass, price, quality of finish, and pothole shrugging durability.

I've got a pair of Bontrager Aeolus Pro carbon wheels, very very nice to ride, better than my handbuilt alloy wheels, very comfortable and they really do impart a feeling of just flying.

It really depends on your budget, but I'd recommend a mid-depth (45-50mm) carbon wheelset for use in summer as a Sunday best. The Prime wheels linked above look very good, Novatec hubs and a solid warranty from a reputable retailer.
