How does one domesticate an HGV? Does it take several generations of selective breeding or can all that be short circuited now by modern genetic engineering?

Unlikely. The definition of domestic vehicle is probably defined in the relevant bye-law and will almost certainly have some specification using some combination of factors e.g. weight, size, number of passengers, type of use, etc. By no stretch of the imagination could an articulated lorry be construed as "domestic" even if it is some freak using it as such.

Rule 217 of The Highway Code states 'DO NOT park your vehicle or trailer on the road where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users' One of the examples specifically stated is 'opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space'
