Is there anything I can do with this?

How much does it cost to Oldham?
I've got an older compaq (yeah I know) compaq EVO 1015V laptop that will randomly shut off, and then complain on reboot that it's got some file or other missing. I've formatted and reloaded XP. Anything else I can try before I tip it?

if you've reformatted it with a non-pirate copy of XP using a non-pirate license key and did a full format in the process and it still does it then it's fuct.
Might still be worth getting in touch with seller/manufacturer.

I hope not, because if Jayne is a mum of 5 then there will be 4 more Bonjs running around

Back on topic....

You could try installing Ubuntu. It's a lot smaller than Windows and will run faster. It is free to use and gets regular updates.
You also won't need to worry about internet security.

It takes a little longer to get everything setup and not everything will work with Linux yet but still a very usable system.

I've been a first time user since December and I'm now very happy with and don't miss windows one bit.
