When traffic is slow moving, I filter to the front.

Yes semantics perhaps, but I did say "(down the centre)" in my post.

you may well be on a hiding to nothing there.

even without dedicated lanes the cycle symbol is generally on the left , not that i ride there often. I have been the fastest thing along Mile end road for the last 2 nights. My filtering confidence and ability has improved too.

Can't beat the fresh smell of manure at 7:30am - how I miss that (used to cycle through a farmer's yard on one commute) - an unclassified road went through it.

Down the centre of what? the road or two lanes, or is there a cyle lane, the answers are prob's in other posts but im too tired to read em.

It probably sounds worse than it is. The cars are "shuffling". Stopped moving stopped moving. There is a cycle lane part of the way. Sometimes I do use it, but with parked cars to the left of it, I feel more in danger there.

No matter what option you choose there probs al equal danger, Site in a primary and wait (squish by two cars), middle of road (squish by oncoming car) middle of two lanes (squish by two cars coming together) or cycle lane (squish into the back of a park car or side squish by two cars).

Question is, whats the best way to be squished?
