Is this a repair or just brazing?

Hello,

Noticed a long line of rust that looked like a crack. i sanded away the paint (I intend to get it re-painted) and this was underneath (right side gold look)

I guess the main question is why did it appear to rust on the paint where this was?

Thoughts?

Discoloration , could be a lot of causes. May just be primer. How's the seatpost?

Loch side.
That fork was built using a Cinelli internal lug. In other words, the fork crown is cast iron and the legs are drawn steel. What you see there is the brazing between semi-solid crown and legs. This type of construction is problematic and almost always causes a little crack line, whether it is chromed or painted. That's because it is a poor design. Aesthetically it does away with the stepped lug on the outside but engineering wise it causes a stress riser. Don't worry too much about the little paint crack but keep an eye on it.

Silly question but what's the frame hanging up at the right of your picture?

Shaun

Which one  there are two in the picture.

The red one is my specialized allez elite (2011 (probably) if your asking)
The other one is a Carlton Corsa I really need to get round to dating.
