Yes it's a sign of brain fade and you will die listening to some mindless ditty over and over and over again.

I blame musak in lifts for spreading the worm.

I suffer very badly from this. Sometimes it keeps me awake.

It's never good music- I never get a Beefheart song lodged in there, a bit of Coltrane. It's often something I haven't heard for years.

I'll be cycling along, having a nice time.

Then it'll start.

e.g.
"Do the Hucklebuck
Do the Hucklebuck
if you don't know how to do it
Then you're outta luck"

And that'll be it for the rest of the ride.

I experienced something like that on a forum ride to the Yorkshire Dales this summer! I startled the rider next to me (I can't remember which CC member it was) by suddenly bursting into song - Squeeze's Up the Junction ...

(No doubt triggered by the sight of the Clapham village sign)

It was echoing in my mind for the rest of the day ...

Most of this morning:

Oh, one more night, just the one more night
Could I please stay, just the one more night
I'll be leaving in the morning if that's alright
Oh, could I stay, could I please stay
Could, could I, could I please stay
One more night
