Just back from a weeks hols and it seems like we've been plunged into an early autumn. When I left these shores, all was bright and beautiful, now it feels like jumper-time.
For those of you with an agricultural bent the recent storms have probably impacted the wheat harvest badly which is not good news.

So what's going on, blip or part of a longer trend for earlier summers and winters?

Winter drawers on!

Sign of things to come. Its also the Indian Summer that was promised earlier this year. They just forgot to mention it'd be monsoon season though.

The indoors temperature dropped last night and then I got on the bike this morning it was sunny but chilly in the wind, and before I got my rear on the saddle I put my back out. That feels like autumn to me.

Little bit cooler up here, but I think that's more because of the after effects of that storm than anything else. Still sunny and warm for the most part.

Soup and chunky bread for lunch........would have been unthinkable two weeks ago it was so hot!

To my mind -
May, June, July = Summer
Aug, Sept, Oct = Autumn
Nov, Dec, Jan = Winter
Feb, March, April = Spring

The BBC broadcasts Springwatch starting in May which I think is quite late. We often get some nice Spring-like weather in February.

So yes - I'd say Autumn has started.
