Is this damaged tyre safe?

This happened to my 6 month old tyre yesterday. Just wondering, would you consider it still usable?

Personally I don't trust it, so I put on an old (but still just about serviceable) tyre in the meantime. I've honestly no idea how it happened .

Thanks.

Bin. How many miles has it done? What tyre is it...some just aren’t very durable especially in bad weather / rubbish roads worse in winter

You'll find many to tell you to keep it.
It's your neck, but you'd be advised to change it.
You couldn't pay me enough to use it.

Not a chance, unless you like A&E or Dental visits.

The day that orange underlayer gets punctured (which it will) is the day the inner tube explodes and the tyre rolls of the rim. If you happen to be going slowly uphill at the time then fine, but anything else could be very serious, particularly if descending at speed.

I wouldn't use it except to get home, especially as some of the casing appears to be damaged.

Some of the comments are rather apocalyptic. I have had blow-outs, even at speed, and never felt the urge to fling myself on to the road as a result.
