I have the same issue with my Mavic Aksiums, seems as though the only thing keeping it all together is a push on collar on the hub side, I'm not sure but in your photo's the collar doesn't seem to be there? You can still mount the wheel on the bike without the collar and not realise it's missing, don't ask me how I know!
They can get lost as they are not usually a tight fit - they just push on/pull off - so when you drop the wheel out you can inadvertently dislodge them and lose them. You can easily buy spares

After looking into it further and doing a bit of searching I found out that this is the correct behaviour of this hub. When it is secured in the dropouts with the thru-axle everything is held in place securely. I had just never noticed that it was possible to slide off previously. For anyone who is interested the hub is shown here: tech.mavic.com/tech-mavic/technical_manual/data/mavic_tech.php?display=product&family=1010&subfamily=1050&macronu=23905

and a video here: youtube.com/watch?v=nLObTbB37VQ

I have checked and all parts are present as expected.

Thanks for all replies.
