Is this the windiest spring ever?

The wind has been pretty strong the last few days. I can never work out my ability to cycle in wind. As a light rider some most days I really suffer on a round trip in the wind but others like today I can really motor the only real difference I can think of is wearing a Gilet ;)

I think I mostly judge my speed by the wind in my face. Last week I cycled to the shops at lunchtime -- I kept going faster, until I could feel the wind against me, then looked at the speedo showing 42km/h. With the easy pedalling I was expecting 25km/h or so. (Coming back from the shops I thought my pedalling was worth 35km/h but I was only doing 20km/h.)

The gardeners at work are complaining about the lack of rain and the unusual amount of wind.

I'm located near the center of the US of A, but it always amazes me how you folks seem to have the same weather as we have! When I ride home from work in a downpour, I'll get on here, and read letters about how everyone had to ride home in a pouring rain. When the wind beats me to death, there will be letters about how strong the wind was. Main difference is that our winter temps seem to be much colder.

Not very windy at all today. Felt like I was hurtling along every stretch. Yet my timing was same as yesterday when I road mainly in head and cross winds. Puzzling.

yes today good, wore thin goretex thinking it would be cold, but got into work sweating like a pig! Pushing it hard though as triathlon in a few weeks!

I think it has been a windy spring but it's odd as quite a lot of the winter was very dry and unusually still.

If anyone knows Southampton, I had a ride up the hill to Bitterne a few days ago with a strong headwind. Was quite difficult. Although it was worse on northam bridge, I almost got blown off the bridge lol along with a cycling postman.
