A good guess would be as far from home as you get, on the busiest road you travel, on the coldest, wettest day of the year in the dark and when you are in a rush. Have I covered it there?

You forgot miles from any source of light and you've only got dynamo lights on the bike.

If you're broke, you could trying 1 or 2 large puncture repair patches on the inside of the tyre to stop the tube herniating through the tyre wall. I guess that won't stop the tyre splitting further though....

Ta, good tip for an emergency I reckon. I'm not broke, TIGHT, but not broke, I have just replace the tyre with a new Bontrager stock tyre that was on the bike when I bought it. I'll get some wear from that over the summer and I'll replace it at the end of the year. Thanks for the tip though, I never thought of that.
