Is using grease that's 25 years old ok?

My old neighbour used to used to be into oil, think it was Comma he worked for, he could put a bit of oil between his fingers & basically tell you what it was & what was in it from it's texture & smell, or he at least he could, no way to disprove it.
Pffft... real lubricologists do it by taste.

I got some of my dad's old Castrol LM grease that I use on pulley bearings.

Looks a bit like this

Probably older than me and works just fine.

Of course it's OK to use old grease. I've had this stuff since the late 1970s

I don't use my grease gun on the car anymore but I recently smeared a bit on the threads when I changed my freewheel.

I've been clearing the garage out. The previous owners left a few things behind, do you reckon this is still good? 1970s judging by the rest of the detritus.
