Is Vaping in a School OK?

I saw a delivery driver in my daughters primary school smoking the other day, or at least I thought he was smoking. As I walked over to him to gift him my thoughts on the matter I realised he was vaping so I veered off confused. Is vaping OK in Primary School grounds during the school day?

Depends on school police I'd imagine. The Uni I work for has decreed that vaping is identical to smoking and so the same policies apply to both. But I don't think there are specific laws about it.

As a vaper, I'd say while there are no health risks it still isn't something I would encourage.

Kids copy, and they may copy with something that isn't as safe as I use. I don't vape around children and even refrain from vaping if I'm walking past some on the street.

I wouldn't villify or try to press my standards on others though for the simple reason that many, many kids try smoking as a part of growing up and I'd much rather they vape instead.

I definitely wouldn't encourage kids to start vaping (I do it myself - smoker in recovery) but it features very far down my list of things to be annoyed about.

I remember school teachers who smoked in class; and much as I would hate to see a return to those bad old days, I have survived to tell the story and I doubt the teachers inspired my decisions to experiment with cigarettes. To a school kid, adults are old fogeys and boring as a general rule. It was my peer group experimenting with them that made me take an interest.

NO NO NO - on several levels. Legality. Bad example. how harmless are these really, and what about the "secondary smoking" effect - who knows yet?

Legality? It isn't illegal.

It isn't smoke, so therefore isn't smoking, so there is no secondary smoking.
Shall we also ban cars in school car parks and the surrounding streets because we DO know that the fumes from cars are bad for kids health? You don't ban stuff because you don't know. Unless you are a Daily Mail reader.

The only reason to use a Vaping device is to help come off traditional smoking. It's safer than cigarettes but not as safe as not vaping.
