Scotland every time for me, nice and clean, beautiful, cool and civilised.

Ahhh; sounds just like a Saturday night in Greenock!

Joking aside, you are quite right - if only it didn't rain so much. 50 weeks of the year and it does become a bit tedious .

I've just got back from Menorca...the only terrorists around were 5-9 year old overweight Scottish children dive bombing into the pool

The weather was gorgeous though :sun:

People should just carry on regardless... HMG should not have forcibly recalled everyone- that knee-jerk reaction has resolved nothing and made the whole situation worse. Totally random acts of violence can't be defended.

Damned if they, do damned if they don't - by a public happy to hold oxymoronic concepts.

Criticised for recalling, but if they had not and there had been another attack they would have been criticised for failing to recall.

To tell the truth I'm not surprised the attack happened in Tunisia. I went there a few years ago in winter on a business trip and walking around Tunis I was shocked at the contrast between the Tunisians, dressed demurely in full winter city clothing of dark trousers, coats and many of the women veiled, while the tourists paraded around, the men in shorts and T shirts and the women displaying huge areas of hideous wrinkly flabby skin. Their attire was deeply inappropriate and insensitive to local customs. So when I saw something somebody said about the recent atrocity having been committed on the beach because that was where all the "sin and immorality" were supposed to be happening, I wasn't surprised.

They WILL strike again, but the difficult bit is guessing where, when, and how. It is just as likely to be on the streets of London or Edinburgh as it is to be on the beaches of wherever - so no point in avoiding anywhere in particular. Keep Calm and Carry On; otherwise the cowardly feckers have won.

But doesn't Tunisia welcome tourism? isn't that part of how their holiday destinations and that country make a living?
Do we (UK) expect tourist from there to wear our attire?

I'm afraid I take something of a blase approach to these sort of issues. I've spent enough time in conflict zones where the chances of being killed were very real to not be worried by what, as srw points out, is an infinitesimal risk.
Ha ha ha ha. And when you woke up were you still in a "conflict zone" In fact had you actually been born?

A more reasoned response would have been to allow people to make their own mind up... people have vastly different perceptions of risk and what is or isn't acceptable.
